The Health Insurance Act (2021 Revision), in this Act referred to as the \u201cprincipal Act\u201d, is amended in section 2 as follows \u2014 (a) by repealing the section heading and substituting the following section heading \u2014 I Assent, Jane Owen Governor Date: 19th March, 2026 Health Insurance (Amendment) Act, 2026 \u201cInterpretation\u201d; (b) by deleting the definition of the words \u201cindigent person\u201d; and (c) by inserting, in the appropriate alphabetical sequence, the following definitions \u2014 \u201c \u201cChief Medical Officer\u201d has the meaning assigned by section 2 of the Public Health Act (2026 Revision); and \u201cmedically indigent person\u201d means a person who \u2014 (a) is a recipient, as defined in section 2(1) of the Financial Assistance Act, 2022; or (b) in the opinion of the Minister responsible for health, after consultation with the Chief Medical Officer or the Chief Medical Officer\u2019s designate, is unable to pay for the person\u2019s health insurance or medical services by reason of inadequate financial resources;\u201d.\", \"element\": \"section\", \"heading\": null}, {\"eId\": \"sec_3\", \"num\": \"3.\", \"text\": \"Amendment of section 5 - compulsory health insurance 3.
