The Bill also seeks to remove from the application of the public interest test in section 26(1) of the principal Law, exempt records under section 19(1)(a) of the principal Law, to prevent the unintended disclosure of Cabinet and National Security Council exempted records. Clause 1 provides for the short title and commencement of the legislation. Clause 1(2) provides for Clause 3 to commence on 14th June, 2019 which is the same date that the relevant sections of the Freedom of Information (Amendment) Law, 2018 came into force. Clause 2 amends section 3(8) of the principal Law by deleting the reference to the former Customs Department and substituting the name of the newly established agency with responsibility for customs and border control which is the Customs and Border Control Service. Clause 3 amends section 26(1) of the principal Law by removing the reference to section 19(1)(a) of the principal Law.
