Clause 1 of the Bill provides the short title of the legislation. Clause 2 of the Bill provides for the amendment of section 71(2) of the Public Health Law (2002 Revision) to increase penalties for contravention of provisions of the Law for which no specific penalty has been provided. The amendment seeks to increase the fine from one thousand dollars to ten thousand dollars, increase the term of imprisonment from a term of six months to a term of two years and increase the fine for a continuing offence to five hundred dollars for each day that the offence continues after conviction.
