The Cayman Islands (Constitution) Amendment Order 1967 (SI 1967No. 970)\", \"parties\": [], \"longTitle\": null}, \"docKind\": null}, \"bill\": null, \"judgment\": null}}","akn_full_text":"1967\/970\n\n1\n\nSTATUTORY INSTRUMENTS\n\n1967 No. 970\n\nCARIBBEAN AND NORTH ATLANTIC\n\nTERRITORIES\n\nThe Cayman Islands (Constitution) (Amendment) Order 1967\n\nMade\n28th June 1967\n\nLaid before Parliament\n4th July 1967\n\nComing into Operation\n5th July 1967\n\nAt the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 28th day of June 1967\n\nPresent,\n\nThe Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council\n\nHer Majesty, by virtue of the powers conferred upon Her by section 5 of the West Indies Act 1962(a), is pleased,\nby and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:\n\nCitation, commencement and construction.\n\n1.(1) This Order may be cited as the Cayman Islands (Constitution) (Amendment) Order 1967 and shall come into\noperation on 5th July 1967.\n\n(2) This Order and the Cayman Islands (Constitution) Order 1965(b) shall be construed as one; and these two\nOrders may be cited together as the Cayman Islands Constitution Orders 1965 and 1967.\n\nAmendment of section 9 of the Constitution of the Cayman Islands.\n\n2. Section 9 of the Constitution of the Cayman Islands is amended by the insertion of the following subsection as\nsubsection (4):\n\n\"(4) The Administrator shall not be obliged to consult with the Executive Council in exercise of any power vested\nin him\n\n(a) by section 53 of this Order, in so far as that section relates to the making of appointments, or by section 54 of\nthis Order; or\n\n(b) to determine the duties that will be performed by particular officers, including their assignment to particular\nposts; or\n\n(c) to grant, withhold, reduce in amount or suspend any pension, gratuity or other like benefit payable to or in\nrespect of any person who has been in the public service.\".\n\n1967\/970\n\n2\n\nAmendment of section 54 of the Constitution of the Cayman Islands.\n\n3. Section 54 of the Constitution of the Cayman Islands is amended\n\n(a) by being re-numbered as subsection (1) of section 54; and\n\n(b) by the insertion of the following subsection as subsection (2):\n\n\"(2) The reference in this section to the power to dismiss any person holding a public office shall be construed as\nincluding a reference to any power to require or permit a person to retire\n\n(a) 1962 c. 19.\n(b) S.I. 1965\/1860 (1965 III, p. 5588).\n\nfrom a public office and to any power or right to terminate a contract on which a person is employed in a public\noffice and to determine whether any such contract shall or shall not be renewed.\".\n\nW.
