Regulation 1

ANIMALS (PROHIBITED DOGS) (AMENDMENT) In exercise of the powers conferred by section 45 of the Animals Act (2024 Revision), the Cabinet makes the following Regulations — Citation These Regulations may be cited as the Animal (Prohibited Dogs) (Amendment) Amendment of the Animals (Prohibited Dogs) Regulations (2014 Revision) - general amendment The Animals (Prohibited Dogs) Regulations (2014 Revision), in these Regulations referred to as the “principal Regulations”, are amended by deleting the word “CAVO” wherever it appears and substituting the word “Director”. Amendment of regulation 2 of the principal Regulations - types of prohibited dogs The principal Regulations are amended by repealing paragraph (e) of regulation 2 and substituting the following paragraph— “(e) any breed of dog whose breeding lineage was for the primary purpose of dog fighting.”.

Regulation 4

Amendment of the principal Regulations - insertion of regulations 2A and 2B; regulation of cross breeds; determination of breeds on the requirement of the Director The principal Regulations are amended by inserting after regulation 2 the following regulations — “Regulation of cross breeds 2A. Cross breeds of the breeds specified in regulation 2 are not prohibited dogs however they may only be imported into the Islands if — (a) the dog is spayed or neutered; and (b) the application for the importation of the dog under section 11 of the Act is supported by written proof that the dog has been spayed or neutered. Determination of breeds on the requirement of the Director 2B. Upon the importation of any dog into the Islands, or where the Director considers it necessary to do so pursuant to the Act or these regulations, the Director may direct the owner of the dog to bring it for examination by the Director in order for the Director to determine the breed of the dog.”.
