Regulation 1

ANIMALS (PROHIBITED DOGS) (AMENDMENT) (NO. 2) REGULATIONS, 2025 In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 11 and 45(5) of the Animals Act (2024 Revision), the Cabinet makes the following Regulations — Citation These Regulations may be cited as the Animals (Prohibited Dogs) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 2025. Amendment of regulation 2 of the Animals (Prohibited Dogs) Regulations (2014 Revision) - prohibited dogs The Animals (Prohibited Dogs) Regulations (2014 Revision), in these Regulations referred to as the “principal Regulations”, are amended in regulation 2 as follows — (a) by renumbering regulation 2 as paragraph (2) of regulation 2; and (b) by inserting the following as paragraph (1) — “(1) No person may import a prohibited dog into the Islands.”.

Regulation 3

Repeal of regulation 2A and substitution - regulation of cross breeds The principal Regulations are amended by repealing regulation 2A and substituting the following regulation — 2A.“Exception from prohibition on importation 2A.(1) A person who wishes to export a prohibited dog shall provide written evidence, together with the application for export of the dog, that the dog is spayed or neutered unless the dog is medically exempted. (2) Notwithstanding regulation 2, a person who has exported a dog in accordance with paragraph (1) shall not be prohibited from importing that dog back into the Islands unless the dog is pregnant.”. Repeal of regulation 2B - determination of breeds on the requirement of the Director The principal Regulations are amended by repealing regulation 2B. Savings (1) A person who, in accordance with the Animals (Prohibited Dogs) (Amendment) Regulations, 2025, imported a cross breed of a prohibited dog between 17 March, 2025 and the date of the commencement of these amending Regulations shall be considered to have acted lawfully. (2) Where a prohibited dog that was in the Islands prior to the date of the commencement of these Regulations is outside of the Islands on or after the date of the commencement of these amending Regulations, an importer shall not be prohibited from importing that dog back into the Islands if the importer provides written evidence that the dog is spayed or neutered.
