Regulation 1
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 23 and Schedule 2 of the Parliament (Management) Act, 2020, the Cabinet makes the following Regulations — Citation These Regulations may be cited as the Parliament (Management) (Remuneration of Constituency Assistants) Regulations, 2022. Rates of remuneration and pension (1) A full time constituency assistant shall be entitled to remuneration agreed between the Chief Officer, acting on the advice of the relevant member of Parliament, and the full time constituency assistant, and such remuneration shall be — (a) in accordance with the remuneration band M provided under the Public Service Management Act (2018 Revision); and (b) at a point within that band as agreed between the Chief Officer, acting on the advice of the relevant member of Parliament, and the constituency assistant. (2) A part time constituency assistant shall be entitled to remuneration —
Regulation 3
(a) agreed between the Chief Officer, acting on the advice of the relevant member of Parliament, and the part time constituency assistant; and (b) which is based on the full time constituency salary entitlement as determined under paragraph (1) pro-rated for the proportion of the full time position worked. (3) A constituency assistant is entitled to pension contributions similar to those for employees who are members of the Public Service Pension Scheme, and the constituency assistant is required to contribute to the Public Service Pension Scheme in accordance with the provisions of the Public Service Pensions Act (2021 Revision). Termination allowance A constituency assistant who is terminated by the Chief Officer under paragraph 7(a) in Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the Act is entitled to a termination allowance equivalent to one month’s salary. Cessation of employment and payments A constituency assistant, to whom paragraph 7(c), (d) or (e) in Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the Act applies, is entitled to one month’s notice of cessation of employment, or in lieu of such notice, to a payment equivalent to one month’s salary.
