Legal Services Act, 2020 LEGAL SERVICES (SAVINGS AND TRANSITIONAL) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 2025 In exercise of the powers conferred by section 101 of the Legal Services Act, 2020, the Cabinet makes the following Regulations — Citation and commencement (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Services (Savings and Transitional) (Amendment) Regulations, 2025. (2) These Regulations come into force immediately after the Legal Services (Savings and Transitional) Regulations, 2025 enter into force. General amendment to the Legal Services (Savings and Transitional) (Amendment) Regulations, 2025 – references to “commencement of the Act” The Legal Services (Savings and Transitional) Regulations, 2025 are amended as follows — (a) by deleting the words “the commencement of the Act” wherever they appear and substituting the words “1st January, 2026”; and (b) by deleting the words “the date of commencement of the Act” and substituting the words “1st January, 2026”.

Regulation 3. Legal Services (Savings and Transitional) (Amendment) Regulations,

Amendment of regulation 2 of the Legal Services (Savings and Transitional) Regulations, 2025 - savings and transitional provisions The Legal Services (Savings and Transitional) Regulations, 2025 is amended in regulation 2 as follows — (a) in paragraph (c) as follows — (i) in subparagraph (ii), by deleting the words “of the Act); and” and substituting the words “of the Act);”; (ii) in subparagraph (iii), by deleting the words “or disciplinary proceedings.” and substituting the words “or disciplinary proceedings; and”; (iii) by inserting after subparagraph (iii) the following subparagraph — “(iv) without prejudice to subparagraph (iii), the requirement in sections 31(b) and (c), 33(2), 34(3)(b) and 34(3)(d)(ii) of the Act shall be satisfied if the person is in good standing on a register or its equivalent maintained by a court or other relevant body of a jurisdiction referred to in section 32(3) in which the person has been admitted to practise law.”; (b) in paragraph (f), by deleting the words “15th February, 2026.” and substituting the words “15th February, 2026; and”; by inserting after paragraph (f) the following paragraph — “(g) section 24(3) of the Act shall not have effect for a period of six months commencing on 1st January, 2026.”.
