The Firearms Regulations (Revised), published the 30th August, 1976, consolidated with Law 27 of 1977 (part) enacted the 5th December, 1977 and 4 of 1997 (part) enacted the 24th March, 1997, and with the Firearms (Amendment) Regulations, 1990 made the 18th December, 1990 and the Firearms (Amendment) Regulations, 1998 made the 17th May, 1998. Consolidated and revised this 8th day of June, 1999. Note (not forming part of the Regulations): This revision replaces the 1998 Revision which should now be discarded. Arrangement of Regulations Regulation FORMS Fees Regulation 1 Citation These regulations may be cited as the Firearms Regulations (1999 Revision). Definition In these regulations — “farmer” means a person who satisfies the appropriate authority that he farms or manages land that is used for arable purposes or the rearing of stock. Scope These regulations apply to — (a) applications for Firearm Export Permits, Import Permits, Firearm User’s (Restricted) Licences, Firearm User’s (Special) Permits and Disposal Permits; and (b) licences and permits granted pursuant to such applications. Applications Applications for licences or permits to which these regulations apply as well as licences and permits granted shall — (a) be in the form specified in the First Schedule; and (b) contain the particulars therein specified, Regulation 5 and shall be accompanied by the fee specified in the Second Schedule. Photographs An applicant for a Firearm User’s (Special) Permit shall forward with the application two small unmounted photographs, approximately 2 in. x 1 1/2 in., of the applicant, and on the back of one such photograph a certificate signed by the applicant that such photograph is a true likeness. Minimum ages No person shall be issued with a — (a) Firearm User’s (Restricted) Licence; or (b) Firearm User’s (Special) Permit, unless — (i) in the case of a shot gun, air pistol, air gun or air rifle, he has attained the age of eighteen years; or (ii) in the case of all other types of firearms, he has attained the age of twenty-one years. Appeals An aggrieved applicant may give notice of appeal in the form specified in the First Schedule which shall be accompanied by a fee of ten dollars which will be refunded if the appeal is successful. Fees The several permits and licences issuable under the Law are those set out in section 19, and for which the fees specified in the Second Schedule are payable. Waiver of fees: Cayman Brac, Little Cayman The Governor in Council may, from time to time, waive or reduce any or all of the fees specified in the Second Schedule in relation to any person or group of persons in Cayman Brac or Little Cayman.
