PUBLISHING DETAILS Arrangement of Regulations TRAFFIC TICKET SPEEDING TICKET TICKET OFFENCES AND FINES Regulation 1 In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 106 and 142 of the Traffic Law, 2011 the Governor in Cabinet makes the following Regulations — Citation and commencement These Regulations may be cited as the Traffic Ticket Regulations, 2012 and come into force immediately after the Traffic Law, 2011 [Law 26 of 2011] comes into force. Traffic tickets and fines (1) The traffic tickets shall be in the form set out in Schedule 1. (2) Where an offence referred to in Columns 1 and 2 of Schedule 2 is committed, the penalty in Column 3 applies. (3) Where the summary of an offence contained in column 1 of Schedule 2 differs from the substantive creation of the offence in the provision concerned, the provision creating the offence shall prevail and no person may be acquitted on the basis that there is a conflict between the two provisions. Maximum fine (Regulation 2(2)) TICKET OFFENCES AND FINES Fine Using, without its proper registration plates, a vehicle for which registration is required under the Law 93(1)(a) of Holding onto a vehicle on a road for the purpose of being towed by it 93(1)(b) of Throwing an object at a vehicle or a personin a vehicle 93(1)(c) of Throwing an object from a vehicle while the vehicle is in motion on a road 93(1)(d) of Using a vehicle designed to be used with a silencer, without a silencer or with asilencer that is in an unsound condition 93(1)(e) of Using a vehicle with its engine in such a condition that it gives out excessive or obnoxious smoke, 93(1)(f) of Using a horn or other audible warning device on a vehicle excessively or in such a way as to cause unnecessary discomfort to another person 93(1)(g) of Using a spotlight or flashing headlights in such a way as toendanger or dazzle another person 93(1)(h) of Obstructing or failing to give way to an emergency vehicle 93(1)(i) of Fine

Failing to give ample clearance to a school vehicle or overtaking such vehicle while it is engaged in setting down or picking up passengers 93(1)(j) of

Bringing or driving a vehicle, other than an invalid carriage, on to a beach or other place intended for the exclusive use of pedestrians unless specially authorized by the Commissioner 93(1)(l) of

Parking a vehicle other than a pedal cycle at night on the carriageway of a roadunless that vehicle has its rear lights and, in thecase of a vehicle other than a motorcycle, its side lights illuminated 93(1)(m) of

Being the owner or person in control of a vehicle, causing or permitting it to stand or lie on a road or footpath so as to cause unnecessary obstruction or danger to persons using the road or footpath Section 93 (1) (n) of

Being in breach of a provision in the Law or regulations in relation to construction and use of a vehicle, including body works Section 93 (1) (p) of

Using a vehicle whose tint fails to conform to the prescribed standard Section 93 (1) (p) of the Law and regulation 23 (3)(c) of the

Failing to drive at such a speed and manner and at such a distance from other vehicles as to be able to stop in an emergency without being involved in a collision

Where an intersection or road junction is without a traffic sign or signal giving priority to a road, driving in such a manner as to fail to avoid the possibility of a collision with any other road user

Parking a vehicle in a way that obscures a road, road sign, road intersection or junction from the view of another road user

Parking or loadinga vehicle where there are yellow lines painted at the roadside in contravention of section108 Sections 108 and 93 (1) (t) of the Law

Parking or loading a vehicle where there is a yellow line on the roadside or at the road centre Section 93 (1) (v) of the Law

Carrying an unauthorised pillion passenger on a motor cycle for which the driver has only aprovisional licence or on a pedal cycle Section 93 (1) (w) of

Carrying an unauthorized pillion passenger on a motor cycle for which the driver has only aprovisional licence or on a pedal cycle Section 93 (1) (w) of

Failing to make sure a child under 14 years is wearing a seat belt (Seat Belts) Regulations, 2012; and section 71 and section 93 (1) (z) of the Law Fine

Contravening a provision relating to the use of a disabled person’s badge Traffic (Disabled Persons) (Badges for Motor Vehicles) Regulations, 2012; and sections 119 and 93 (1) (aa) of the Law

Failing to obey signs, signals or directions given at road works, school zones, road blocks or barriers Sections 92, 106, 109 and 117(3) of the Law
